Unlike through-hole components where mechanical strength is acquired by the leaded component sitting in the plate through-hole during soldering, surface mount components have solder joints which provide both mechanical and electrical connections. Very thin boards and flex circuits can be accommodated during Print, Placement and reflow using our spring loaded flush hold downs, which lie flush with the fixture during Print, but can be pushed up and rotated using a single quick action, to hold the board in place during Placement and Reflow.
