Fixings and Clamps
Our Wave Solder Fixings are named Pingu and Rockhopper.

FixingsPingu - Is our most popular; it is compact and extremely durable and should be used where space is at a premium.

Rockhopper - Is our most ergonomic offering; the large handle, which may be ganged, makes it ideal for fast open fixturing. Be warned, however: Rockhopper fixings don't like being slammed around and need to be used on careful lines only.

Fixings and Clamp Design Features
A 45-degree angled handle - As far as we know, we are the only company in the world who puts our handle at 45 degrees; this helped the operator avoid hitting any upstanding components and allows a flick rather that a twisting type of action (watch out for RSI problems with twisting actions).

Rounded lift/sharp edge - This allows us to make the greatest possible saving whilst still allowing cross retrofit (Pingu/Rockhopper) and higher quality.

High Temperature - All our fixings are manufactured in a very high temperature/stiffness glass loaded polymer.

Titan Clips - Used in zero masking applications normally on adjustable carriers. The main advantage being that the board is clipped in using a gentle push action.

Molded Bridge Clamp - Datum molds a series of high-temperature Bridge clamps which will cover most non-critical clamp requirements. These have standard lengths of 40, 50, 60, 70 80, 100.

ClampsParametric Designed Bridge - Clamps In response to customer request we have developed a flexible series of bridge clamps which can be quickly and accurately designed and manufactured. These clamps can incorporate multi-point rocker mechanisms allowing the maximum flexibility of design.

Hinged Drop Down Weights - Good old simple weights; we still like them. However, they are prone to getting lost and require some degree of operator training and so we advocate hinged, drop-down weights, which at least guarantees that the weights are not lost and that they are put on the right way. These are possibly the most under used of all solutions, but they can be used to check the component is present, check the orientation of the component, as well as just hold the component in place.

Wave Solder Bridges - Bridges are used for two reasons: to clamp components in the center of a large board; or to provide support to large boards by using a titanium hook.

Top Hats and Canopies - Normally used when the total number of side clamps becomes excessive and when a large number of connectors require clamping.

Spacers and End Parts - We use standard parts to achieve the greatest possible range of clamping heights and forces. These are stock items allowing us to manufacture on a same-day basis.
